In this paper, we will discuss the use of interlaboratory studies for the evaluation of analytical methods for concentrations. Our objective is to describe procedures to validate analytical methods used for estimating concentrations of a specific analyte in a given material with a minimum of uncertainty. Many of the testing/evaluation procedures discussed are valid for measuring physical properties. The purposes of a collaborative study is to evaluate how a method will perform in the future in actual practical applications in real life settings. Also defines chemical analytical methods and procedures, method validation, relative standard deviation, precision versus accuracy, and an example collaborative study.
